Just had one of the more fulfilling experiences of teaching Krav Maga happen this morning. After teaching the 11 am All Levels class, one of our female students who has been training with us for about 1 year stopped me to thank me.

She told me she grew up in a rough area and for most of her life she has had a recurring nightmare where someone breaks into her house wielding a knife and chases her in an attempt to kill her. She has always woken up from this nightmare screaming and has wrestled to get back to sleep.

She just had this same dream a couple nights ago, but this time rather than running away from her attacker screaming, she turned towards him, blocked the initial stabbing attack, controlled the arm, countered and disarmed him! She says she awoke feeling very safe and happy. I couldn’t be prouder of her!

If we can all subconsciously process and deploy our defenses so that we beat our innermost demons, then we can certainly face our conscious lives with greater confidence and consequently find success in our day-to-day challenges.

I am thankful for my team of instructors who keep our classes challenging but fun, and for the hard charging students who give us their all every time they are on the mats.
